In November 2019 I had a trip to Singapore and on the return managed a two day stay in Tokyo. One of the nights I made it over to Tokyo Disneyland, a Disney I had not seen yet and was very excited to experience. It was around an hour by bus from the hotel in downtown Tokyo out to the Sheraton Grande Tokyo Bay. I opted for an after hours Disneyland pass for the night of my arrival at the Sheraton Grande Tokyo Bay and the next day to get a full day pass before taking the Airport Limousine Bus out to Narita airport.
I arrived at the hotel on a rainy November afternoon but was happily upgraded to a large suite which was very functional, not overly stylish, but very efficient, overlooking the bay and dropped my bags off quickly before touring the hotel. The lobby was large with a central bar and a few eating options and a coffee bar with easy to go snacks. There was a gym complex in the large exercise area with pool and hot tubs by the water. I did not have enough time to see or utilize all of this but it looked very thorough and both kid and adult friendly. I took a quick look at the upstairs Club Lounge which had great views out over the park and the water. There were various food options and alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages during a set time with some basic snacks and coffee, water, and juices available during off hours.
For accessing the park it is very easy to jump on the train with a station just outside the hotel and the quick trip around to the entry to Disneyland as the Sheraton faces the back of the park. From there, both parks have some similarities but many differences to Disneyland Paris or California or the Magic Kingdom in Orlando. Since it was so close to Christmas the park was thoroughly decorated with great touches. The 1990's movies such as The Little Mermaid and Aladdin have their own land areas and the Three Caballeros featured heavily in the park along with American nostalgia. The Winnie the Pooh ride is a must. I wished I had brought warmer clothes for the rain, most people had ponchos on, but despite the dreary weather it was a great trip. Next time I would definitely add an extra day to fit in all of the rides and not feel so rushed.
It was an easy but over hour long drive on to Narita but outside of staying at a Disney Hotel itself the Sheraton Grande was a great choice for visiting Tokyo Disneyland especially if you want to stay at a Marriott property. At $240 US it was half the price of comparable properties nearby with a great staff in the Club Lounge and with easy access to the park via the train.
