Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre

Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre Room View

I just returned from a quick trip to Vancouver where I stayed at the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre after having been to see family in Victoria.  On this stay I used a Suite Upgrade to guarantee a Suite.  The hotel has completed much needed renovations with the exception of the still dated gym.  I always prefer the South Tower which houses the Club Lounge, main lobby, and many of the suites.  The Club Lounge itself is a magnificent split level lounge with stunning views and an outdoor patio a good food selection for breakfast and dinner, and helpful staff.  The renovated rooms have a pleasant and neutral decor with beautiful views.

The North Tower was only built in 2001 and remains one of Vancouver's tallest buildings, but despite this relatively young age the rooms in this tower have now been recently renovated very nicely.  Though not as large as the suites in the South Tower, some of the rooms on the upper floor of the North Tower are spacious and offer panoramic views out over English Bay and the city.  The standard sized rooms in the North Tower are curved along the shape of the building and are quite nice, but noticeably on the small side.

The location of the hotel remains one of its strong points.  With the current low Canadian dollar the prices for a stay in a major city are so much less in comparable to the average US city currently.  At around 75 cents to the US dollar everything from the room price itself to dinner or drinks seems like a steal.

The weather was perfect for a long walk around the SeaWall, shopped on nearby Robson St., and stopped for lunch.  The Wall Centre is perfectly situated for most of what downtown Vancouver has to offer.  The front desk staff checked in repeatedly to make sure we had everything we needed, and again the Club Lounge offerings were excellent.  The next day I had a workout in the good but oddly laid out gym with shared sauna, hot tub, and large indoor pool.  On our way out of town we stopped by Granville Market, a must for foodies with a large selection to choose from.  It is an easy walk to the market over the Burrard or Granville bridge or it is a short walk down to the water from the hotel where you can jump on the rainbow coloured Aquabus.
